Scheduling

We provide tutoring help at all levels of the communications process: brainstorming and planning, draft content and structure feedback, logic and language help. For presentation tutoring, we can go over your slides with you, or listen and give feedback on content delivery techniques as you practice an upcoming presentation.

Once you have created an account at https://temple.joinknack.com/, click on any WHITE block to make an appointment.

If all the time slots that suit you are booked, click on the clock icon for that day to be notified of any cancelations. You can add your phone number for text alerts by clicking your name to the upper left.

What to bring:

  • A copy of the assignment instructions (you can open this digitally from your class Canvas site)
  • Any draft or text you have completed so far (hard copy or digital)

Online tutoring appointments:

  • You must have a functioning webcam, speakers and microphone.
  • You must have a connection fast enough to support real-time webcam video.
  • Please try to conduct your tutoring sessions in a quiet room where you will not be interrupted.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many appointments can I make per week?

You can book up to three hours per week, and they can be any combination of half-hour or hour-long appointments.

What if I come to the Business Communication Center, but my grade doesn’t improve?

We do not guarantee grades. We are here to help, but you alone are responsible for the grades you receive.

What if I have to cancel an appointment?

You may cancel up to one hour before an appointment. To cancel, please email us at .

What happens if I am late for an appointment?

If you are 15 minutes late, you are considered a “no show.”

What happens if I don’t show up for an appointment that I’ve scheduled?

If you accumulate two “no shows,” you must speak with our tutor coordinator (), or our director () before you will be allowed to make further appointments.

Can I tell the tutor: ‘Just fix my stuff, yo.’?

No. The tutor-client relationship is built on professionalism and mutual respect. If you feel disrespected or discriminated against, you should contact the BCC director (jimmypmiller@temple.edu) immediately. If a tutor feels disrespected by you, the BCC may prevent you from scheduling any further appointments with that tutor or remove you from our system entirely.

Official Policies

Eligibility

The BCC serves FSBM & STHM undergraduate students only. We tutor assignments from any Fox or STHM course, as well as extra-curricular scholarship essays and cover letters. We do not tutor assignments for courses in other colleges (such as Gen-Eds or electives).

Tutor-client relationship

The tutor-client relationship is built on professionalism and mutual respect. If a client feels disrespected or discriminated against, he or she should contact the BCC director immediately. If a tutor feels disrespected by a client, the BCC may prevent the client from scheduling any further appointments with that tutor or remove the client from our system entirely.

Clients should not attempt to personally contact tutors for any reason. Tutoring outside the center is strictly prohibited, so please do not ask. Any issues clients have can be resolved through the peer tutor coordinator or the BCC director.

Scheduling

All appointments are scheduled by the client via our online scheduling system, WCOnline. We do not schedule or cancel appointments by phone or in-person. Appointments can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance at: https://temple.joinknack.com/

Cancellation

Clients are allowed to cancel appointments up to 30 minutes before the appointment start time. After this window has passed, a missed appointment will be considered a “no-show.”

Lateness

After fifteen minutes from the start time of the appointment, the appointment is considered missed.
