Mecca Mitchell is the Senior Vice President overseeing Leadership & Organizational Development, Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, and Community Impact for Burlington Stores. She leads efforts to create supportive and equitable institutional structures, foster welcoming and inclusive environments that promote growth and development, and cultivate a culture that leverages diversity, inclusion, and equity best practices to drive business objectives, while responding to the diverse needs of its workforce, its customers, and the community.  Prior to this position, she served as Senior Vice President of Diversity, Inclusion & Community Engagement Westchester Medical Center Health Network, a hospital system in NY.   

Mrs. Mitchell previously served as the Chief Diversity Officer for New York State and held the position of Executive Director of Equal Employment Opportunity & Diversity Management for the New York City Department of Education.  She began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.  

Mrs. Mitchell holds certifications from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations in Diversity Management and Equal Employment Opportunity Studies. She received her Juris Doctor from Hofstra University’s School of Law and attended the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany, double majoring in Criminal Justice and Political Science.
