Dr. Burtsch is the recipient of both the AIS Early Career Award (2017) and the INFORMS ISS Sandra A. Slaughter Early Career Award (2017). He is the recipient of the INFORMS Information Systems Research “Best Paper” (2014), “Best Reviewer” (2016) and “Best Associate Editor” (2019) awards.
Research Interests: Dr. Burtch focuses on understanding what drives people to participate online—such as supporting a crowdfunding campaign or donating to a charity. He analyzes website data to model and predict consumer behavior, explores social factors like the influence of peer groups, and designs interventions that aim to encourage people to get involved in online campaigns.
