Emmanuela Antwi Asiamah is a PhD student in Business Administration and a Presidential Fellow at Fox School of Business with a profound passion for advancing her knowledge in accounting. Her educational journey started with a solid foundation at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana, where she pursued BSc Business Administration with concentration in accounting. She discovered her interest in Accounting and Auditing during her Bachelors degree which ended in the year 2020 and she excelled academically and developed deep understanding of financial reporting, taxation, auditing and corporate governance.
In the course of her undergraduate studies, she was drawn to the intricacies of auditing particularly in understanding how audit committee effectiveness ensures a good financial performance of a firm. Her academic coursework and research projects focused on corporate governance, auditing practices and internal controls. Emmanuela’s undergraduate thesis ‘The Effectiveness of Audit Committee and Firms Financial Performance in Ghana’ highlights on how effective audit committee affect a firm’s financial performance in her country Ghana.
Now, as a PhD student in Accounting at Temple University, Emmanuela is eager to delve deeper into her research interest in auditing. Her doctoral research aim is to explore how audit committee size affects firm’s financial performance in the world. Emmanuela is particularly interested in investigating how many members of the audit committee is needed to ensure its effectiveness, hence, to improve firm’s financial performance across the globe.
Alongside conducting her research, Emmanuela exhibits a strong dedication to contributing to the academic realm through both teaching and mentorship endeavors. She anticipates engaging with academic peers and pursuing research collaborations to address contemporary challenges in auditing and accounting practices. Emmanuela’s aspiration includes not only fostering theoretical knowledge in auditing but also to bridge the gap between academic research and practical applications, thus rendering significant contributions to the accounting domain.
Outside of her studies, Emmanuela is active in professional accounting groups and attends conferences to keep up with new developments in auditing and accounting as a whole. She also embarks on volunteer works such as teaching in some Senior high schools in Ghana, helping students in applying accounting theories and encouraging girl child education in some villages in Ghana. Emmanuela Antwi Asiamah is driven by her passion for auditing and her desires to make a difference in the accounting world. With a strong academic background and focus on innovative audit practices, Emmanuela is on her way to becoming an Accounting Scholar and practitioner.
